Legalities
At least one visit to the registrary office is necessary before the wedding. We will come to the office with you and, if needed, also arrange for a certified interpreter.
The list of required documents varies according to the nationality, marital status, type of the ceremony etc. We will always provide you with specific information according to your situation and guide you step by step through the whole process. We can of course arrange for the translation of documents.
The Czech law also allows registered partnerships of same-sex couples. Required documents are generally the same.
Required documents:
- Passport
- Birth certificate
- Certificate of no impediment issued max. 6 months before the wedding day (i. e. if the wedding is on August 10, the date of issue must be February 10 or later)
- Certificate of marital status and permanent residence address
- Final decree of divorce if divorced
- Death certificate of the spouse if widowed
- Confirmation of legal stay in the Czech Republic issued by the Czech foreign police max. 7 days before the wedding (non-EU citizens only)
All documents (except for the passport and the foreign police confirmation) need to be certified for international use and translated to Czech by a certified translator.
